What is Jara Honey?

Jara honey is a 100% natural product, obtained in the wild with minimal human involvement. In naturally crafted beehives made from hollowed logs, bees first build the honeycomb and then fill it with honey.

Georgians began collecting Jara wild honey several millennia ago. By observing nature, they discovered that bees primarily inhabited tree hollows. Our ancestors decided to domesticate the bees in a way that preserved their wild lifestyle. That’s why the beehives were made from wooden logs and attached directly to trees.

Winery Khareba has faithfully preserved this tradition to this day, offering the opportunity to taste the kind of honey that was originally created by nature, independent of human intervention.

Why is Jara Honey Special?

Jara honey is produced by the Caucasian grey mountain bee. Its proboscis is half a millimeter longer than that of other bee species, measuring 7.2 millimeters. This allows it to extract nectar from deep within the flower’s blossom.

The honey is collected in the village of Mukhuri, located in western Georgia. The flora in this region is especially diverse. Around ten different nectar-bearing plants thrive in Mukhuri, contributing to the honey’s unique flavors and rich vitamin content.

Jara honey is not only prized for its taste but also for its medicinal properties. It supports the digestive system, eliminates harmful bacteria from the body, and boosts energy levels.

Bio Certification

Winery Khareba’s “Jara Honey” is bio-certified by Caucascert, and its quality has been tested in German and Dutch laboratories.
